Neglected Journal is neglected...but I have news thats too exciting~
After a incredibly lengthy application process and much angst ridden waiting, I finally found out the results of my JET programme application!

I'm in! I'll be going to Japan 27th July!

I was really ambivalent about how my interview went...I was really nervous and thought I said some really dumb things, although I did have some good things to say about previous experience working with students etc etc. Also I have a Masters TESOL teaching qualification through a well respected university, it probably helped.

I only got the acceptance letter today, so I don't know where I'll be placed but still, I'm super excited =D. I'm going to start another blog, probably mostly for the benefit of my family, but once I've started that I'll post a link here too =)

I haven't been around LJ for ages, so sorry for not commenting and what feels like decades now, but so glad I did today. Because YAY JAPAN! I'm so happy for you, that's perfect! :D And this year in July even, that's... really soon when you think about it.
Now I'm also really curious about where you are going. I mean, it's going to be Inaka that's about sure, but there's inaka and there's deepest inaka... Good luck for the next results too then! Did you have any wish where you said you would prefer to go? (Sooo coming to visit you when you're there! It's really about time I go to Japan once again, especially after my training in the company's motherhouse in Osaka didn't work out after all.)

*glomps* I'd been wondering where you had been<3 haha it's ok though, I've been pretty much absent from lj as well...my life is too busy and boring or just a combination of both to really have anything to talk about, and I guess I'm a lot more hesitant to post rl stuff now too, after working with students and what not ^y^;

I'm so excited, but yea its like...'shit I really only have 3 months until I leave and I have to finish uni, and quit my job and sort out moving to a whole new country, where do I even begin?'

I won't find out where I'm placed until the end of May ><, though at the point, I'm just really happy that I was accepted. As for location preferences, I put Tokyo first, but I know that that is pretty much unlikely, my second was Ishikawa-ken(mostly because Kanazawa seems like a really nice city^^;) and Sapporo as my third, and that I had a preference for urban areas. Lol I do kind of hope its not deepest darkest inaka, but overall, I'm open minded about where I could end up, it's going to be an experience either way~

And yes, I would love it if you came and visited me! <3

*glomps back* I have done my best to stop being an internet junckie since I started to work last September, and did a lot of reading etc. I always had such a headache after having stared at a computer screen for all day during work that that actually was a bliss. But now I have started searching for a new job, so I had a lot of private email checking etc. to do, soooo now I'm back at doing stupid online games, doing mindless internet surfing etc. -_- Fortunately I will most likely sign a new contract until the end of this week AND our particularly long and cold winter is now finally taking it's retreat, which means that I should take less time in front of the screen until my new job starts beginning of May. And I would really like to go on holiday for a week before May, totally looking forward to that now (even if I still do not know where to go...)
And yeah, there's my boring and busy life too, and I too am hesitant to post anything about my work. Not so much until now, because I was in a smaller company where no one cared what the non-japanese employees are doing, but I'm changing to a big company now. So better start with the internet paranoia now. ;>_>

And oh yes, finishing uni, quitting your work, that is a lot indeed... How is uni doing by the way, do you still need to do a lot before graduating? Is it going to be stress?

lol Tokyo! XD Be careful that they won't send you to the Izu or even the Ogasawara islands, I was told during our JET info day that it is a risk to take whenever someone chooses "Tokyo". EVERYONE chooses Tokyo.^^ I don't know anything about Kanazawa though to be honest, have you ever been there? (Probably not though, since you say "seems to be nice". So, how do you know about Kanazawa?) Hokkaido sounds great too though, especially if you like nature!

I'm very glad I don't have to sit in front of a computer all day, that sounds horrible >< We had a similarly extreme long hot summer(though I think I would prefer your winter, rather than a weeks of 36-40 degree days ;_;) so hot, I'm glad it's over

Oh, are you starting a new job? Or recontracting?

I have just over a months of classes left, its almost a strange feeling, knowing this is the end end of uni(and not just finishing one course and starting another). This semester has been all second language teaching subjects, and I'm finding it really interesting, especially the subject I'm doing about second language acquistion. It's not too stressful though, I'll have time between finishing uni and departing the country to do things.

Lol, In the interview the asked us to explain why we chose those preferences, and I said that I knew it was highly unlikely to get a placement in Tokyo, but I put it down just on the off chance. Lol, nope, never been to Kanazawa, but I was reading about it the first time I was in Japan and was interested to go there, but never ended up getting around to it. And it looks pretty in the pictures I have seen, and is supposed to have a strong arts and crafts culture, and a well preserved historical tea house district. And the weather sounded nice too =p.
The only areas I've been to so far are Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Nara...

Lol basically I said Hokkaido because the idea of living somewhere in cold was appealing. Even though I've been to Europe in winter, snow is still a novelty to me(even after spending time in Helsinki in February, and the snow was higher than I was in some places)^^;

Lol you're making me paranoid now...I had to look up those islands, sounds like the ends of the earth D=
